Indigenous 150+ is dedicated to celebrating first nations, Métis and Inuit voices. Originally launched as a film and conversation series in 2018 as a response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s calls to action. The initiative has grown to include a podcast series and media training programs focused on career development for indigenous youth and emerging creatives.

Good Influence Films is a social impact enterprise dedicated to using media for social change. Indigenous 150+ initiative started as a response to the Truth and Reconciliation with the goal of celebrating First Nations, Métis and Inuit voices, educating Canadians, and building shared experiences. It was launched in partnership with M’Wikwedong Indigenous Friendship Centre and members of Saugeen and Neyaashiinigmiing First Nations and the Métis Nation.
Indigenous 150+ initiative celebrates and centres the voices of Indigenous youth in media through a podcast, film series, and media training initiatives. We hope to inspire individuals, organizations and businesses to find their own unique way to respond to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action.

“I am constantly surrounded by noise: TV, texts, the internet, music, meaningless small talk, my thinking. All of it blocks my consciousness, my ability to hear the ME that exists beneath the cacophony. I am my consciousness, my awareness of my circumstance, my presence in every moment. So I cultivate silence every morning. I sit in it, bask in it, wrap it around myself, and hear and feel me. Then, wherever the day takes me, the people I meet are the beneficiaries of my having taken that time – they get the real me, not someone shaped and altered by the noise around me. Silence is the stuff of life.”

Good Influence Film’s wishes to acknowledge that our office is on land covered by the One Dish One Spoon Wampum Belt covenant and the Treaty Territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit, and ancestral lands of the Mississauga and Haudenosaunee Nations. These lands are now home to many Indigenous peoples, and is a place we are privileged to live, and work. The Indigenous 150+ initiative is a response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls To Action.
